Metropolis black diamond silver bangle

720

This bangle is inspired by one of the opening scenes of Fritz Lang’s 1927 Metropolis, one of the pillars of the history of sci-fi movies. It is derived from the columns of the foundations of the lower city, which gives an impression of total domination of the metal structures and machines over its inhabitants, like steel teeth ready to devour them. I wanted to reverse the proportions by transforming this immense structures into a simple jewel, and thus turn it into a symbol of power for its wearer.

Like all of my other creations, I make this bangle and set the black diamonds by hand in my Parisian workshop. The original model was made by hand directly from silver sheets, cut and soldered together.
